This Service is built and run by one person — a second-year master's student at a Japanese graduate school. While learning to program and investing in Japanese equities on the side, I realized EDINET's disclosure data could power a tool for testing my own investment hypotheses, and built it independently.
It started with a single discovery: Musashi (ticker 7521), an election-equipment wholesaler, whose net cash (cash and investment securities minus interest-bearing debt) exceeded its market capitalization — meaning the operating business itself was effectively being thrown in for free. That made me wonder whether similar names existed elsewhere.
While researching, I noticed that quantitative methods well established overseas — Graham's net-net stocks, Piotroski's F-Score, and others — had almost no accessible way for individual investors in Japan (or abroad, looking at Japanese stocks) to test them. This Service aims to be a free place where anyone can run well-sourced, cited methodologies against Japanese equities.
Financial data is obtained and processed directly from disclosures on EDINET (Financial Services Agency). See the Terms of Service for the scope and limitations of the data.
